Welcome to MaybeGodHatesYou.com!
The name of this website is more than an attention getter, it is a true statement. Please read on.
While most people today claim that "God loves everyone without exception", this statement is nowhere supported by Scripture. On the contrary, the Bible clearly teaches that there are some people that God hates! Consider the following passages of Scripture:
The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity. - Psalm 5:5
The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, And the one who loves violence His soul hates. - Psalm 11:5
Just as it is written, "JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED." - Romans 9:13
While single verses are quoted above, please take time to read each verse in its Biblical context. You will find that they all teach just what they say: God hates people. Maybe He hates you. Why? Because you deserve to be hated, just like everyone else. Take a look at yourself through God's eyes:
as it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE. THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING, THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS; WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS; THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN. THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES. - Romans 3:10-18
That is a description of every living human being and that includes you! By contrast, God is holy, perfect, and righteous. It is no wonder that He hates, not just sin, but sinners themselves. Your sin alienates you from God. You have no right whatsoever to come before Him and you deserve His wrath.
If the above revelation makes you despair, it should. But there is Good News!
While the Bible paints a grim picture of mankind, it also tells of an unfathomable love of God.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. - Romans 5:8-10
Did you catch that? While we were yet sinners, Christ died for His people and through His death on the cross, His people have been justified (made righteous in the sight of God) and saved from the wrath of God! Though all people are naturally enemies of God, Jesus has reconciled those that believe in Him so that they may be made right with God. And just as Jesus rose from the dead and lives forever, so shall His people who trust in Him alone.
So how is a person saved from the wrath of God, justified in the eyes of the Lord, and reconciled to the Holy One? Again, we must turn to Scripture for the answer:
and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." - Acts 16:30-31
And here we have the bottom line: To be saved, you must believe in the Lord Jesus. This means you must repent of your sin and turn in faith to Jesus, trusting Him alone.
Does God hate you? Not if you repent and believe!
